Based on results from our three main singles competitions - the Championship, Falconer and Vic Cup - the ranking list will be a rolling 3-year list showing our best singles players. The link to the ranking list is on the left side of this page, just below the navigation buttons. After his excellent and consistent season in 2008, it comes as no surprise to see Ian Ringsell as our first 'official' No1 bowler - many congratulations to Ian. It will be interesting to see how the list looks once the results for the first full three year period are included!
18.01.09: HALL OF FAME - We have two new entries in the Hall of Fame after last year's competitions. Tony Hume has now won the Frank Mullen triples three times (1988, 1993 and 2008) and now has an entry for that competition to add to his entries for the Under 35's and Nominated Pairs. In the Willie Kydd Trophy, Ali Strachan's victory means he has now won that competition three times (2001, 2007 and 2008), so he too has another entry in the Hall of Fame to add to his Buist Medal listing. Congratulations to Tony and Ali.
22.01.09: PHOTOS - Two more sets of photographs have been added to the website. Firstly, the pics from the visit of Monmouthshire Bowling Association Touring Team from Wales on 4th September last year, which was a great success and a fantastic day was had by all. I've also added some photos of our new, modernised club interior. You can find these photos by clicking on the featured pictures on the right side of this page or via the 'Photos Page'. I still have photos to add from last year's Presentation Night, Angus Dinner, City of Dundee finals and SBA finals - I hope to get all these on the site very soon.
25.01.09: MORE PHOTOS - Photographs from the SBA finals at Ayr, the City of Dundee finals (which were held at Craigie), the Angus Presentation Dinner and our own Craigie Presentation Night have all been added to the photos page. This brings the website right up-to-date and I'm looking forward to bringing you all the news and views from the 2009 bowling season at Craigie. Roll on Opening Day on April 18th!
13.02.09: TRIBUTE NIGHT - Anyone who has booked tickets for the 'Neil Diamond & Kenny Rogers' tribute night on Friday 20th Ferbruary can now pay for and collect their tickets at the club - please see Russell Brannan or Graeme Forsyth. The tickets are priced £6 each. Members should collect their tickets as soon as possible as there is a waiting list for any unclaimed tickets.
16.02.09: BILL & DICKIE'S QUIZ NIGHT - Bill Hughes and Dickie MacDonald are hosting another one of their popular quizes at Craigie on Friday 6th March at 8pm. As usual, teams should consist of no more than 4 players and entry is £6 per team. Refreshments (pehs) will be served during the evening and all members are encouraged to come along, have fun and perhaps win one of the prizes for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.
21.02.09: TRIBUTE NIGHT - Last night saw the 'Neil Diamond & Kenny Rogers' tribute show at the club. It was a fantastic evening's entertainment as a packed clubhouse was treated to Kenny Rogers and Neil Diamond acts courtesy of Pat Cairns. More details and photographs can now be found via the 'Photos' page or by clicking on the feature picture on the right of this page.
22.02.09: ABBA TRIBUTE NIGHT - Following on from the hugely successful Kenny Rogers/Neil Diamond tribute night, Craigie is putting on another tribute show, this time it's Abba tribute show on Friday 3rd April. Tickets for this event are limited to 90 so you'll need to get your booking in quickly as early predictions are that this show will be another sell-out. More details can be found on the 'Social' page.
ADMIN ANNOUNCEMENT: CRAIGIE FORUM - To go with our new look website, we've updated the Craigie forum. The forum has a great new look and is easier to navigate around. This upgrade has involved a change in the forum internet address - all the links to the forum on the website have been changed to reflect this. We are hopeful this will help spark a renewed interest in members joining and using the forum - a few year's back we had a thriving, if small, community on the forum and it would be great to get back to that and have even more bowlers using this great resource. Please click on any of the links, register and join in the fun and chat. (Members of the old forum have been sent an e-mail informing them of this change.)
02.03.09: INTRODUCING 'BOBBY THE BOWL'- Please welcome our brand new website mascot, 'Bobby The Bowl'. He's been specially created and developed by Hairy Monkey Media exclusively for the website. Bobby will be appearing regularly on the site and could pop up anywhere! He may even occasionally offer his views on events at Craigie and he'll be cheering on all our bowlers throughout this season and in the future. We think he'll be a great addition to the website and we hope you like him.
ADMIN ANNOUNCEMENT: WEBSITE TEAM - I'd like to formally welcome Greig Mackie to the Craigie website team. Greig has kindly volunteered his assistance to help update and maintain our website. From today, he's been set up with the necessary software on his PC and has full access to update all areas of the website and the Craigie e-mail account. Greig's first idea is to bring back the competition draw sheets to the site and he'll be updating those on a regular basis once the season has started. This is a great move as I know quite a few of the Craigie online community like to be able to see the draws online and it should help generate more bowling competition discussion in the 'On The Green' section of the forum. Hopefully, in the near future we'll be announcing the addition of a third member to the admin team which should make for an even better website resource, with updates on a more frequent and regular basis.
03.03.09: AGM - The club AGM will take place in the clubhouse at 7pm on the 17th of March 2009. Letters of notification, including the agenda for the meeting, will be sent out in the next few days.
11.03.09: RED NOSE DAY 2009 – We're joining the rest of the country and wearing our red noses for Comic Relief this coming Friday! The Craigie website will be donating £10 to the charity and we'd like to encourage our online community to donate something to this worthwhile cause (only if you can afford to, of course). Bobby The Bowl will also be doing his bit as he'll be sporting a red nose until after the event. We're looking forward to a fun evening of great TV comedy on Friday night!
11.03.09: EASTER FUN DAY - Craigie is hosting our annual Easter Fun Day on Sunday 12th April. This day is always loads of fun for children and adults alike, with competitions, games and all sorts of fun to be had. All members and guests are welcome so come along, bring the kids and have a great afternoon! More details of this event can be found on the Social page.
19.03.09: MEMBER FEES FOR SEASON 2009 - As discussed at the AGM on Tuesday, the fees for season 2009 have been fixed. Your annual fees can now be paid to club Treasurer Alan Brown.
22.03.09: OPENING DAY 2009 - Opening day this year is on the 18th of April. The list for names is up for those wanting to play in our annual President vs Vice-President opening match. Spaces are limited to the first 72 names so if you want to play you'd better get your name down fast. The teams will be drawn and put on the board on the 13th of April.
22.03.09: ABBA TRIBUTE NIGHT - For those of you who put your name down for this event, the tickets can now be paid for and collected by seeing Russell Brannan. He is in the club most nights between 8:30 and 11:00.
