Check out the 'Social Page' for more details...
28.02.07: CRAIG MAKES PROGRESS... - Our very own Craig Stewart is making waves on the Indoor Bowls circuit - he's won through to the finals of the 2007 Henselite Challenge, a coveted Barrs Irn Bru School of Excellence competition. The finals of this coveted tournament are being held at Dundee IBC in April - good luck to young Craig in his matches at the finals.

27.02.07: ANGUS LEAGUE - The fixtures for this year's Angus League have been posted on the Angus BA webpages. Craigie's first match is at home to Arbroath on Friday 4th May.
26.02.07: CITY OF DUNDEE - Craigie will host another 'City' match in this year's Cities & Counties Championship for the Andrew Hamilton Trophy. We will be hosting the final match in the group stages on Saturday 23rd June, and it's the local derby against Angus. For the past few years we have hosted a very successful spectacle and many club members have turned out to provide various functions on the day. Hopefully there will be plenty of volunteers again this year and we can host another great match, and a 'City' win! Still with the City of Dundee, Craigie's very own Tony Hume will be Vice President of the association this year. Many congratulations to Tony on this appointment and, of course, next year he'll be President. Rumours are rife that after holding these prestigious posts he's in the running for Prime Minister, then Sultan of Brunei and, last but not least, America's Next Top Model! Seriously though, many congrats to Tony and I'm sure we all hope his time in these posts is very memorable and full of success.
26.02.07: AGM 2007 - The date and time for this year's Annual General Meeting is Thursday 8th March at 7pm prompt. All members are encouraged to attend and remember, this is your chance to have your say on anything at Craigie and vote on any appointments, changes etc.
25.02.07: 2006 SEASON ROUND UP - Since last June all the major competitions at Craigie for 2006 were decided as follows:
Club Championship - The final was contested by Fred Simpson and Gary Anderson. A great match ensued with Fred eventually winning the coveted Craigie Single-Handed Championship. Tragically, Fred was to succumb to illness later on last year - a very sad loss to his family and everyone at Craigie. A likeable, quiet man (and, incidentally, a very good bowler) Fred was much loved and respected by all at the club and it's a fitting tribute that his name is now adorning the Champions Board.
Falconer Cup - The 2006 final was between Scott Brown and Vince Stewart. Scott was seeking to win this singles tournament for the first time, with Vince looking for his (record breaking) fifth victory. In one of the best matches seen all year Scott just edged victory 21-20. Congratulations to Scott, who has now won all three Craigie major singles trophies.
Vic Cup - Last year's final saw two first time Vic finalists, in the shape of Ali Strachan and Craig Stewart. Another great match was played and Ali won his first singles competition at Craigie. Congratulations to Ali - perhaps this will be the first of many singles titles now he's finally broken his duck!
Under 35's - Two of our great young bowlers, Vinnie Stewart and David Briggs, locked horns in the final last year. This time Vinnie came out on top to claim his second Under 35's crown. Congratulations go out to Vinnie on his fine victory.
Under 26's - After losing out in the final of the Under 35's David Briggs was looking for a final win in this competition. This time his opponent was Craig Stewart, Vinnie's younger brother and another tremendous young Craigie bowler. After yet another great match David won this competition for the second time. Craig was seeking his first Under 26 win, but has plenty of years left and your webmaster is certain it's only a matter time before he nets this title. Big congrats to David on his fine victory.
Senior Singles - In the second year of the 'old boys' singles competition the final was contested by Ian Ringsell and Willie Hughes. The victor last year was Ian Ringsell. Congratulations to Ian on his achievement.
Senior Pairs - The 2006 final saw Willie Husband & Joe Mitchell play Ian Ringsell & Jack Reilly. The bowling was excellent and, in another keenly contested match Willie and Joe claimed a fine victory. Congratulations to both our senoir pairs winners.
Buist Medal - Jim Davie won this daytime singles competition for the second year running, defeating Sid Clarke in the final. Congrats to Jim on his win.
Allan Pairs - The 2006 final was played between the partnership of Jack Reilly & Jim Penman against Peter Barnet & Tony Hume. It was a hotly contested match and the eventual winners were Jack and Jim, with Jim winning his first Craigie trophy. Extra special conratulations from your webmaster on this one (at least someone from the family won a trophy last year)!
Thom Brown Pairs - In the first of the weekend tournaments the final was contested by Billy McCash and Stephen Swann versus Russell Brannan and George Duncan. This particular final was very much a one-sided affair, with Billy and Stephen running out comfotable winners. Big congrats to our 2006 2-Bowl Pairs champs.
Frank Mullen Triples - The final tournament of the year as usual. The 2006 final matched Gary Anderson, David Briggs & Ali Strachan against Fred Simpson, Walter & Babs Hume.Again, we witnessed another great match with Gary, David and Ali taking the spoils and rounding off our season in style. Congratulations to those three and to all our other winners in 2006. Sadly, this proved to be Walter's last Craigie final as he passed away in late 2006. As with his great friend and bowls partner Fred Simpson, Walter will be very much missed by his family and everyone at Craigie Bowling Club. R.I.P. the 'No1 Seeds'.
Finally... Good luck to everyone for the 2007 competitions.
24.02.07: HALL OF FAME (NOMINATED PAIRS) - Congratulations to Alec & Stephen Swann as, due to their victory in last year's Nominated Pairs final, they both enter the website's coveted Hall of Fame for this particular competition. The father and son duo defeated Vince Stewart and Robert Walker in the final. This is Steve's first entry on the all time winners list, whilst Alec now has three entries, this one in addition to his Falconer and Mullen Triples successes. The Hall of Fame can be viewed via the 'Bowls Page'.24.02.07: WE'RE BACK! - We've been away for some time now but the website is back and being updated to reflect events and results during the last few months of last season. All last year's competition draws are now up to date and right now I'm working on updating the history pages with details & pics of last season's winners. I hope to have this done within the next few days. There will also be a special news item with details of the competitions later last year. PS. Your webmaster apologises for the lack of recent activity on the site, due to various reasons, but mostly hardware issues (my current PC is on it's last legs). This should be resolved next month when I take delivery of a superb new piece of kit - a jazzy new laptop!
