20.09.09: FRANK MULLEN TRIPLES - This year's end-of-season triples competition took place yesterday and an exciting days play culminated in a final between the triple of Kevin Brunton, Kenny Penman and Robert Walker taking on Ali Strachan, Gary Anderson and Eddie McHugh. Ali's team got off to the better start and raced to a 4-0 lead but Kevin's team fought back and eventually edged a closely contested match 7-5. Congratulation to Kevin, Kenny and Robert and commiserations to Ali, Gary and Eddie. Extra congratulations to Kevin who, after winning the Vic Cup singles on Friday night, won a second Craigie trophy inside 24 hours!
20.09.09:
SENIOR PAIRS - This
years Senior Pairs final was also played on Friday night and featured the pairs of Jim Murray & Ally Thomson against
the team of Jack Shepherd & George Duncan. Jack and George were contesting their second final in a row after winning this competition last year. The match was a closely fought affair until the last few ends when Ally and Jim pulled clear to win the trophy. Congratulations to Jim and Ally and commiserations to George and Jack.

VIC CUP - This
years Vic Cup final was played on Friday night. Both finalists, Scott Brown and Kevin Brunton, were on good form and treated the spectators to a tremendous match that went all the way to the end of the deciding set. Kevin got off to the better start and took the first set 7-1 but Scott fought back to claim the second set 7-5. The third set was nip and tuck then, with the scores tied at 5-5 Kevin scored 2 shots to take the win and claim his first Craigie singles title. Congratulations to Kevin and commiserations to Scott.

ALLAN PAIRS -
The
Final of this years Allan Pairs took place tonight. The teams
were Colin Barclay & John Wright jnr vs Jim Thomson &
Ian McLaughlan. Colin & John got off to a great start and
lead 11-0 after four ends, shots were traded over the next seven
ends making the score 17-7 to Colin & John going in to the
second last end in which Jim and Ian got three shots to make it
17-10 leaving them needing a seven for an extra end, in the last
end it was Colin & John who picked up one shot to take the
title 18-10. Commiserations to Jim
& Ian who played some great bowls to reach the final. Congratulations
go to Colin & John who both win the competition for the first
time. Extra congratulations also go to Colin as he wins his first
trophy in the club. Photos of the final will be added a.s.a.p.

FALCONER SINGLES - Stephen Swann last night won
the Falconer Singles title for the second time, defeating George
Gray 21-18 in an exciting final. Both players had dominant spells
in the game. George held the upper hand in the early stages but
Stephen fought back well, not only to recover but to take control
of the game. George though had other ideas and came back strongly
to take the lead at 18-17. However, Stephen struck with a count
of 4 to win the game & take the title, Falconer Singles Champion
2009. Well done to both players for a superb final!
